Christopher matteo Connor
Hey! You made it to my page. Thanks for stopping by. I'm Christopher Connor — writer, wordsmith, storyteller, copy editor. Simply put, my passion is working with words! Making them fit together in a way that flows, clicks, and sticks. And if I can be playful along the way, even better.
I have experience writing newsletters, copy and advertorial for well know brands, editorial and lifestyle pieces, and even film reviews. I look forward to writing with you!
Feel free to scroll down to see some fun stuff I've worked on:
Featuring everything from editorials and lifestyle pieces, to copy and advertorials for major brands!
—THE RIV—
Montecito Journal Media Group's Design and Architecture Publication. Featuring the best of Riviera Living.

The Riv Magazine wanted a fun and playful piece on a compelling artist working with sustainable materials making engaging, but unconventional work. Read the full article here!

Santa Barbara is known to be a city made up of beautiful tile, created by the best artists and artisans around. For the Riv, I highlighted a few of the most exciting modern masters of tile making. Read the article here!

—THE MONTECITO JOURNAL MAGAZINE—
Montecito Journal Media Group's Quartely Glossy Magazine

I interviewed well known fashion designer Heidi Merrick to discuss her elegant line of clothing, how she's breaking stereotypes for women, and how her iconic surf roots and father Al Merrick shaped her creative upbringing. Read the full article here!

—THE MONTECITO JOURNAL—
A Montecito/Santa Barbara journal with a readership of over 30,000
The Montecito Journal wanted an engaging hybrid lifestyle/culture piece that also focused on promoting a unique local restaurant owned by a native of Santa Barbara. I pitched a piece on Dalan Moreno, chef of the vegan restaurant Rascals. Moreno was born and raised in Santa Barbara, with a long history in the vegan community.
The result was the piece "Where It All Vegan," a playful anecdotal history of the rise of veganism in Santa Barbara from the early 2000s to the opening of his new brick and mortar restaurant in 2022. Read it here!
The Montecito Journal wanted another story on an up-and-coming chef and restaurateur with ties to Montecito. I pitched a story on Travis Farmer, who worked his way through Santa Barbara and Montecito restaurants before opening his own pizza shop in Ventura. The result was "A Hardcore Passion for Pizza," a profile on Farmer and his pizza pie pride and joy, Back Bench, located in the heart of downtown, right on Main Street. Read the article here!
The Montecito Journal was interested in expanding their culture section by adding film reviews playing at theaters in the immediate area. With my BA in Film and Media Studies and a background working on TV and film, I pitched a playful review column, focusing on films that were often overlooked, as well as highlighting revival showings. The result was the column Reel Fun.
COPY AND ADVERTORIALS

—THE RITZ-CARLTON BACARA, SANTA BARBARA—
The Ritz-Carlton Bacara in Santa Barbara wanted to promote their summer food truck in a fun and playful way. We offered to provide an advertorial in the voice of the Montecito Journal's newsletter, The MoJo, that would highlight their offerings while fitting organically into our publication.
—UCSB ARTS & LECTURES—
UCSB Arts & Lectures, a returning client of The MoJo, wanted to highlight their events and appeal to our readership. I created advertorials with them in the style and tone of the MoJo to help promote cultural events that were of interest to the local community.
—VILLAGE PROPERTIES—
Village Properties, another returning client of The MoJo, wanted to highlight their properties with fun, casual, and engaging advertorials. I worked with their team to develop a style and tone that met their needs while also fitting organically into the The MoJo.
—STORIES TOLD THROUGH MOVING IMAGES—
As a treat for those who have scrolled this far down, here is a fun little short I made. Because, yes! I can even tell stories through the moving image. You know, movies!
